StrikeCheck 2023 Annual Claims Report

A quarter – 25% – of all electronics that were included in claims assessed by StrikeCheck last year were non-damaged at the time of evaluation. More than half of all reported perils were recategorized following an objective cause of loss determination.
These statistics, found in the StrikeCheck 2023 Annual Claims Report, demonstrate the risk carriers take on for each property claim that includes electronics and electrically powered items. The report analyzes the results of onsite assessments for nearly 350 different types of electrically powered items, representing more than 2,100 brands, that adjusters assigned to the StrikeCheck team last year.

- Which causes of loss are most often reported in certain months
- Which electronics are frequently included in claims – even if they aren’t damaged
- Average repair vs. replacement cost comparisons for a variety of electronics categories
- Data for numerous specific electrically powered item types, including large appliances, consumer electronics, electrical service panels, water heaters, solar power equipment, and others
- Lightning data that shows how often lightning was not present at the time of loss
- Other information, insights, and trends as well as access to additional resources to help insurance professionals make more informed decisions
Insurance professionals shouldn’t guess on electronics claims with reported damages from lightning, water, high voltage surge, wind, or other perils. Use the annual report to understand why objective assessments can make a difference in each claim and for the carrier’s overall book of business.
